Park roads
Before travelling to or through Holyrood Park by car, please check that your route is open to vehicles.
Saturday & Sunday road closures
On Saturday and Sunday all roads are closed to vehicles during the day (all road users if an event is taking place).
Please note, it takes around 45 minutes for our Rangers to operate all barriers in the park, which is why a window of opening/closing is provided.
- Closures commence from 8.15am to 9am
- Roads begin to reopen each Sat & Sun evening between 7.15pm & 8pm.
- Access to Broad Pavement, Meadowbank and Duddingston car parks is maintained (unless otherwise signed as closed for events or maintenance)
The High Road
The High Road and Dunsapie Loch Car Park are open to vehicles from Tuesday to Thursday, 9.30am to 3pm.
A one-way system is in place for cyclists.
Other closures
Please be aware the Radical Road is closed until further notice for public safety reasons as there is an active risk of rockfall. We apologise for any inconvenience.

For closure updates please visit our closure page. We also notify @edintravel of any closures.
Park roads may open or close for longer or at other times.
This may happen because of:
- maintenance work
- a large public event
- an accident
- rock fall
- ice and snow
We publicise details of additional or extended road closures on radio, Twitter and traffic news services. Yellow information signs may also be used in the park to give advance warning of changes, where it is practical to do so.
Traffic Regulations
The Ranger Service work with Edinburgh Police to enforce traffic regulations in the Park. Speeding cars and dangerous driving should be reported to the police directly using 101.
External Events
From time to time park roads are closed due to external events. Details provided accurate at the time of production, but subject to change. The most up to date event information can be found on the organisers' website.
